Designing Creative Spaces

Bringing The Music Works Brand to Life

Helping translate The Music Works’ refreshed identity across fundraising, editorial design and immersive creative spaces.a

Overview

The Music Works is a Gloucestershire-based music charity supporting young people through music, creativity and education.

I worked across multiple projects helping apply and evolve the organisation’s refreshed identity across editorial design, fundraising communications and physical studio environments.

The Challenge

The organisation had recently introduced a refreshed visual identity, but the system had not yet been fully explored across wider communication materials or physical spaces.

The challenge was to help translate the brand into more engaging and practical applications that could support fundraising, community engagement and the development of new creative environments for young people.

My role

  • Editorial Design
  • Brand Application
  • Environmental Graphics
  • Print Design
  • Fundraising Materials
  • Signage & Vinyl Design
  • Spatial Branding
  • Stakeholder Collaboration

Approach

The project included the design of an impact report zine used to communicate the charity’s work to community partners, donors and prospective supporters. The publication focused on creating a more engaging and expressive editorial experience while helping demonstrate the wider social impact of the organisation.

Alongside this, I also helped apply the identity across a newly developed music studio space, supporting the organisation through:

  • fundraising presentation materials
  • environmental branding concepts
  • wall graphics and vinyl applications
  • signage and door plaque design
  • wider visual applications throughout the space

A key focus throughout the work was helping the identity feel more immersive, approachable and reflective of the creativity and energy behind the organisation itself.

Alongside the visual design work, I was also involved in the practical implementation of the space, working closely with architects, sign printers and painters to help translate the identity into a physical environment. This included hands-on spatial planning, measuring wall applications for vinyl graphics and helping guide the placement and production of environmental branding throughout the studio space.

Outcome

The work helped establish a more cohesive and flexible application of The Music Works’ identity across both communication materials and physical environments.

The resulting outputs supported fundraising activity, community engagement and the development of a more visually engaging creative space for young people, while also helping demonstrate how the refreshed brand could scale across multiple touchpoints.
